Bill Mattison, Ph.D.
Senior Advisor for Theological Formation
Bill Mattison serves as a Senior Advisor for Theological Formation in the ACE program, and he has a joint appointment as the Wilsey Family Associate Professor in the Department of Theology. He began his career as an elementary school religion teacher at Assumption Catholic School in Washington DC, and spent the summer of 1994 at Notre Dame helping serve the ACE 1 community. He then went on to do a Ph.D. in theology at Notre Dame, and most recently spent ten years on the faculty and in administration at The Catholic University of American in Washington D.C. His scholarship has focused on Catholic moral theology, especially virtue ethics. His most recent book is forthcoming from Cambridge, entitled The Sermon on the Mount and Moral Theology: A Virtue Perspective.
He and his wife Courtney have two sons, Billy and Jack.
