Fr. Jim Fenstermaker, C.S.C., graduated from Stonehill College in Massachusetts, with a major in psychology and a minor in religious studies. He then taught Religious Studies at nearby Cardinal Spellman High School. He received his Master of Divinity degree from the University of Notre Dame in 1983. Fr. Jim served as deacon and associate pastor at St. Stephen’s Parish in South Bend, IN, and did youth ministry out of La Casa de Amistad Youth Center. He was then assigned as associate pastor in Saco, ME, after which he worked as associate and then pastor in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn. He subsequently served as vocation director, working out of Stonehill College where he lived as a resident priest and hall chaplain. He then became director of campus ministry at Stonehill. After this ministry he served a nine-year pastorate at Holy Cross Parish in Easton, MA. During that time he served on the board of directors of his alma mater, Holy Cross High School, in Queens, New York. He now serves as the pastor of Holy Cross Parish in South Bend, which partnered with ACE's English as a New Language program to begin the first two-way Spanish immersion program in the diocese.
