I’m Already a Teacher…Now What?
Since its founding in 1993, the Alliance for Catholic Education has been committed to serving Catholic schools by forming talented individuals into the next generation of school leaders, expanding access to high-performing Catholic schools, and enhancing the high-quality education that Catholic schools have historically provided.
Each year, the ACE Teaching Fellows program welcomes approximately 90 talented, faith-filled college graduates to enter formation as beginning teachers. For those who already serve as skillful teachers, ACE offers a variety of programs to foster their continued growth as educators and leaders.
Below, find an introduction to some of the programs that are strengthening and transforming Catholic schools across the country.
The Mary Ann Remick Leadership Program
The Mary Ann Remick Leadership Program forms current or future school leaders into transformational school leaders who “lead with zeal.” Over the course of three summers and two academic years, Remick Leaders learn how to better manage school resources, lead learning, and build robust Catholic school communities.
The deadline to apply is February 1, 2020.
English as a New Language Program
ENL Hernandez Fellows complete six graduate-level courses (18 credits) at Notre Dame for one summer and online for one academic year. Through these courses, Hernandez Fellows learn how to recognize the ways languages are acquired, implement teaching strategies and lesson modifications to support English language learners, and create and modify assessments to measure students’ progress in content knowledge and language proficiency.
Apply to be a Hernandez Fellow now until March 31, 2020.
Program for Inclusive Education
The Program for Inclusive Education trains Catholic school educators to better support students with learning differences and to advocate for struggling students. The program involves two weeks of on-campus learning with a team of national experts and an online learning experience. Inclusive educators complete 18 credits through the program and may also earn certification in Exceptionalities: Mild Intervention.
Apply to become an Inclusive Educator by March 1, 2020.
Reform Leaders' Summit
Each year, the Program for Educational Access selects a cohort of 40-50 talented leaders who will learn how to better support parental rights and equity in education.
Reform Leaders dedicate themselves to Catholic education, desire to be active in the school choice movement, develop working relationships with the nation’s top parental choice thought-leaders, and gain firsthand experience of parental choice’s impact on families, communities, and educational systems.
The program is completed over the course of twelve months, including three seminars during that time.
Adelante
The Catholic School Advantage will host its third annual Adelante Conference at Notre Dame from June 28 through June 30, 2020.
All advocates of advancing educational opportunities for Latino children—principals, teachers, counselors, directors of education, parent ambassadors—are welcome to register for this two-and-a-half day conference. Adelante features a wide range of speakers on an array of topics relating to Latinos in Catholic schools.
Registration opens on December 12th.
Trustey Family STEM Teaching Fellows
School teams of 3-5 members brainstorm, plan, execute, and measure a school-specific STEM Impact Plan over the course of three summers and two school years. The Trustey Family STEM Teaching Fellows program targets teachers in the middle grades because this development level is critical to fostering interest and engagement in STEM, particularly for underrepresented populations.
The application is due by February 21, 2020.
