Catholic School Policies and Parish Life
Purpose Statement:
The purpose of this action research project was to examine how a change in school service learning policy, with deference to the parishes that support them, affected the participation of the students in their parish life, including attendance at Mass.
Research Questions:
1. Does instituting an expectation that Catholic school students are required to complete a portion of their service learning hours for graduation with their parish, or other houses of worship in the case of non-Catholic students, increase the opportunities to foster that relationship?
2. Does a relationship with a parish through service learning hours increase the likelihood that a Catholic school student will attend Mass more often?
