Low-Achieving Students in an Over-Achieving School

Purpose Statement:

The purpose of this action research project was to assess the needs of students performing in the bottom quartile at Benilde-St. Margaret’s School and explore stakeholder perceptions of current support systems. 

Research Questions:

  • What are the most urgent academic needs of low-performing students at BSM?
  • What non-cognitive skills necessary for academic achievement and success are deficient in the low- performing students at BSM?
  • How do stakeholders view the strengths and weaknesses of the current academic support system and its efficacy in meeting students’ needs?
