The Effect of an English Language Acquisition Program on the Academic Literacy, English Fluency, and Reading Achievement of Second Grade ELL Students

Purpose Statement:

The purpose of this action research is to examine the relationship between an English language acquisition program and the academic literacy and achievement of second grade ELL students in a small Catholic school.

Research Questions:

Does the addition of an English language acquisition program positively affect the academic literacy of ELL students? Does the addition of an English language acquisition program positively affect the reading achievement of ELL students?
