Creating a Stronger Mentoring Program for St. Paul’s Catholic School

Purpose Statement:

Improve our new teacher mentoring program in order to help educate the teachers on the “null curriculum” and also provide more structured support from veteran faculty mentors.

Research Questions:

What do other elementary schools in the Diocese of St. Augustine currently do to integrate and support their new teachers? Building on those findings, what type of program model would work for new teachers at St. Paul’s? What are the important elements, including an understanding of the null curriculum, that need to be included in the program? What are effective strategies to help mentors be successful as derived from the experiences and reflections of first year teachers?
