Discontent with Content: A Study of the Effects of Differentiated Instruction on English Language Learners in the Content Areas
Purpose Statement:
The purpose of this research was to examine the effects of internal professional development on differentiated instruction at St. Philip Neri Catholic School in content area classrooms composed of English-language learners at various levels of language proficiency.
Research Questions:
What is the current proficiency level of teachers for differentiated instruction in inclusive classrooms to meet the needs of students at various levels of English-language proficiency? How do teachers plan for the instruction of content area lessons for English-language learners? What effect does an internal professional development program on differentiated instruction have on teacher proficiency with differentiated instruction?
