Exploring Class Groupings at St. Benedict Preschool
Purpose Statement:
The purpose of this action research project was to determine the impact of preschool classroom setting, mixed age or single age, on children’s academic and social gains.
Research Questions:
Do preschool students show greater academic gains when grouped with students of the same biological age or in a mixed age classroom? Do preschool students show greater emotional growth when grouped with students of the same biological age or in a mixed age classroom? What are parent and teacher perceptions of classrooms that are grouped by same age or mixed age?
