Fair Grading: The Impact of Professional Development on Teachers’ Perceptions of Grading
Purpose Statement:
The purpose of this action research project was to assess the impact of a year-long professional development program on changing teacher views on grading and in affecting teachers' intentions to implement fair and consistent grading practices.
Research Questions:
What are the established notions on grading and reporting of St. Matthias Transfiguration teachers and how will they change as a result of year-long professional development? Which components of the professional development plan will teachers perceive to be most effective in leading to teacher investment in a change in the school's current grading policy?
