Service-Learning in a Catholic High School

Purpose Statement:

The purpose of this qualitative research was to generate a theory about volunteer service that the school community can improve from its current practices of simply doing service in episodic fashion to engaging in service-learning that is informed by Catholic social teaching and tradition and enriched by prayer and reflection.

Research Questions:

What are the key components of a vibrant service-learning program in a Catholic high school? How does the school community see the best practices of service-learning being implemented at Marian?
