ACE Advocates – Chicago Region

ACE Advocates is a national movement uniting Catholic school supporters under a common mission: to foster greater commitment to, support of, and innovation for Catholic schools. Chicago ACE Advocates work to expand access to Catholic schools and to nourish the spirituality of local Catholic school supporters. By committing to the values of community, spirituality, and service to Catholic schools, they work to address the Chicago needs of local Catholic schools, students, families, and educators.

Big Shoulders Fund

The mission of the Big Shoulders Fund is to provide support to the Catholic schools in the neediest areas of inner-city Chicago. 100% of the funds raised by the Big Shoulders Fund are used to support children through scholarships, special education programs, instructional equipment, much-needed school facility/capital improvements, faculty support and professional development, and operating grants. This year marks the 25th Anniversary of the Big Shoulders Fund and the foundation is serving 93 inner city Catholic school and over 5,000 children on direct scholarship assistance.

Establishment of the Chicago ACE Advocates Scholarship Fund

The Chicago ACE Advocates are committed to school choice. While efforts to pass choice legislation have not yet been successful in Illinois, we continue to support the movement. We have partnered with BSF to establish a 3-year renewable scholarship fund in support of 5 ACE Advocates Scholars. The scholarship – ACE Advocates Scholars – would begin in 6th grade and be renewable through the student’s 8th grade year. The scholarship would be $1,000 a year, therefore, ACE Advocates would fundraise approximately $15,000 total, or $5,000 a year.
