What do you hope to do/accomplish as an ACE Teacher?

Among many of the faithful of the Eastern Catholic Churches there is a strong devotion to Christ the Teacher, the Pantocrator. In His incarnation, Christ gave us a divine model of education and demonstrated the love, patience, and diligence necessary to teach. As an ACE teacher, I hope to follow His example as best I can and to use the truth of the Gospel to illuminate many other truths for my students as they learn and grow.

What experiences at your undergraduate institution helped shape your decision to pursue teaching as a possible vocation?

As a sophomore, I started serving as an Americorps Jumpstart corps member in DC-area preschools helping students develop social-emotional and early childhood literacy skills, and I fell in love with teaching as a vocation. There was never a dull moment with any of my rambunctious young students over the course of two years and three different schools! Seeing their joy and love for learning became the highlight of my day.

How do you hope to grow in your experience as an ACE Ambassador/Intern?

Being an ACE Ambassador is such a wonderful way to learn more about and contribute to the mission of ACE, especially for someone like me with a less traditional major pursuing an M.Ed. I'm hoping to grow in community with my fellow ACE Ambassadors throughout the year and as we begin teaching with the full ACE 28 cohort. In my time at The Catholic University of America, I have met some of the most gifted, faithful young people our nation has to offer. As an Ambassador, I'm also looking to accompany them as they discern a calling to teach with ACE.
