What do you hope to do/accomplish as an ACE Teacher?

My biggest hope is to make a positive impact everywhere I go. I want to reflect back on my ACE experience knowing that I gave it my all and that I was able to foster strong relationships with my students, my community members, and the fellow teachers at my school. I am hoping to inspire the best in my students and to make a positive impression on everyone that I encounter throughout my time at ACE.

What experiences at your undergraduate institution helped shape your decision to pursue teaching as a possible vocation?

I would say that RUIBAL definitely had a large impact on my decision to pursue teaching. This program gave me the opportunity to go into the city of Philadelphia and tutor/mentor children at under-resourced schools once a week and to attend various Social Justice Forums that taught me about various inequities in the education and general lifestyle of many kids and families in America. This commitment was definitely one of my favorites and brought me immense joy every time that I got to go to my service site, but it also allowed me to learn a lot about the education system in America in a way that I hadn't gotten to in my education classes. My time serving with RUIBAL really inspired me to always want to be working with children and to always want to be trying to improve the larger American education system.

How do you hope to grow in your experience as an ACE Ambassador/Intern?

I am really excited to bring my passion and love for education and the ACE program to Villanova. I want to encourage everyone to believe in our mission and in the importance of what we are doing, but I know that as I go through these conversations I will be meeting lots of different people and learning a lot from them. I am excited to take on a new role at Villanova as I help to represent ACE, and I think it will be a good experience for me. It will be good to put myself out there and get to know people I may not have otherwise met and talk about our shared interests in Catholic education and service.
