Cincinnati, OHWhat do you hope to do/accomplish as an ACE Teacher?
I have been privileged to have many great teachers throughout my life who gave themselves fully to their students. They allowed me to find my footing, use my voice, and helped me to see the world through more than just a single lens. I hope to replicate that same passion and care for my students as they navigate their identity and place in this ever-changing world.
What experiences at your undergraduate institution helped shape your decision to pursue teaching as a possible vocation?
After my first year at Ohio State, I was fortunate enough to travel to the Zhejiang Province of China to teach English for five weeks. That experience, coupled with student teaching high school freshman English the fall of my second year, solidified my desire for teaching. I loved working with young people as they explore and begin to understand their sense of self through engagement with literature and writing. I knew I wanted to pursue a vocation in Catholic education because of the impact Catholic education had on my formation as an individual.
How do you hope to grow in your experience as an ACE Ambassador/Intern?
As an ACE Ambassador, I hope to offer new perspectives and encouragement to those who believe that education might be their vocation after graduation. I hope to grow in my faith journey as I continue to discern my path forward in education and accompany those on the journey with me.
