Woodstock, GAWhat do you hope to do/accomplish as an ACE Teacher?
Outside of continuing my own educational pursuits in research and academic development, I'm most looking forward to forging relationships in faith with my community members and future students.
What experiences at your undergraduate institution helped shape your decision to pursue teaching as a possible vocation?
While Georgia Tech does not have a teaching or education related degree, I have been able to find a number of opportunities to support my interest and passion for the field. Recently I finished my two semester long research internship as a curriculum developer for Tech's newly merged school of Biological Sciences. In this roll, I helped streamline a number of online grading systems for teaching assistants and professors as well as mapping the current curriculum for the school's external review. In my time in college, I also had the opportunity to spend eight weeks teaching in two townships outside of Cape Town, South Africa through an organization called WorldTeach. I've also been serving as a religious education teacher for seventh and eighth grade students at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church since fall of 2017.
How do you hope to grow in your experience as an ACE Ambassador/Intern?
One of my goals for myself as I take the next steps on this journey is to keep my mind open to the new opportunities and challenges that God has in store for me. Through prayer and faith, I'm excited to spend the next few years answering God's call and serving him and his mission to the fullest extent of my capacity.
