A Busy Month for Boston Advocates
Greetings from Boston and the Boston Advocates for Catholic Education (BACE)!
We have had a very blessed and fruitful November. On Thursday, November 4, over fifteen BACE volunteers gathered at Trinity Catholic High School to help about 40% of the senior class with their college essays. Many of the Trinity students are the first in their family to go to college, so the time that the volunteers spent with them, imparting wisdom and guidance about the college application process, was greatly appreciated.
Then, on Saturday, November 20, members of BACE co-hosted a mass and dinner with the current volunteers from Boston College's Urban Catholic Teachers Corps, at their home in Dorchester. Over fifty Catholic Education Advocates gathered that night in fellowship and prayer. We were especially lucky to have a very enthusiastic advocate, Erika Banwarth, who is the Coordinator for Hispanic Outreach at the Catholic Schools Foundation, speak to us about her work and our potential efforts in working together to help sustain and increase Hispanic enrollment in local Catholic Schools.
