For Catholic education to continue and thrive in America, we need more proponents on the political frontlines. We need advocates who are willing to speak with policymakers, pastors, and parents to ensure that Catholic education is available to all families, regardless of wealth or status. Specifically, we need more people like Renée Stoeckle.

Second-year graduate students at the University of Notre Dame’s Alliance for Catholic Education (ACE) presented research on a wide range of educational topics at the ACE Teaching Fellows Conference on Tuesday, July 18. The conference schedule offered an array of 23 presentations delivered at DeBartolo Hall over four sessions.

To an outsider, rugby may come off as a hostile sport. Even those who have not seen a game can imagine the intensity of a sport that uses terms such as “charge-down,” “crusher tackle,” and “blood bin.” And while a match might induce some scrapes and bruises, for Daniel Hodge, the former captain of Gonzaga University Men’s Rugby Club, the spirit of rugby is one of hospitality, generosity, and seeing past opponents’ differences. In fact, the kindness present in the rugby community is something Daniel, ACE 24, hopes to foster in his classroom next year.

As part of an annual tradition recognizing the outstanding work of its graduates and supporters, the University of Notre Dame’s Alliance for Catholic Education (ACE) honored three members of the Catholic education community who have set themselves apart with their commitment to their fields of expertise.
