What drew you to the Hernandez Fellows?
The chance to be immersed in a high-quality program for two-weeks and to grow all year long.
What have you learned about language acquisition?
Language acquisition is complex. A teacher truly needs to be detail-oriented and data-driven, but also truly love the child in the process.
What have you learned about creating culturally sustaining classrooms?
A child's culture cannot be defined in a few fixed words and that we should try to go the extra mile to connect with families.
Would you recommend the Hernandez Fellows to other schools and dioceses?
I would recommend ENL because the level of challenge and the entire community keep you more intentional about your instructional practices.
What impact has the Hernandez Fellows had on you as a Catholic educator?
ENL has shaped my vocation by empowering me to increase both the effectiveness and joy throughout my classroom.
