Reflection for the Third Week of Lent
Prayers for Service
Jesus said to his disciples, “ I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my father I have made known to you. You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit—fruit that will last. John 15:15-16
Jesus calls us to strengthen and sustain Catholic schools. It is often not easy, and it doesn’t always appear fruitful. Rebuilding the schools in Haiti, for example, has been a long, slow process that is far from over. But as one recent visitor exclaimed, “In the people, I see hope!”
Prayer
Thank you, God, that our service is rooted in you. From you we draw nourishment for the task. Forgive us when we lose hope. Enliven our trust that through you the movement to strengthen and sustain Catholic schools will bear fruit that lasts. In Jesus’ name we pray, amen.
