Rodney Pierre-Antoine Appointed Executive Director of Lumen Christi Academies
OAKLAND – Bishop Michael C. Barber, SJ, has appointed Rodney Pierre-Antoine as the founding executive director of the new Lumen Christi Academies, a network of seven elementary schools within the Diocese of Oakland. Pierre-Antoine will begin his work in leading the new network May 14, 2018.
Pierre-Antoine has served as a Catholic educator in the East Bay Area for most of his career, after obtaining a master’s degree in educational leadership from the University of Notre Dame in 2009 and his bachelor’s in communications in 1998 from the University of Maryland.
He has served in leadership positions at St. Felicitas in San Leandro and St. Jarlath in Oakland, and was director of the Notre Dame ACE Academies, a national network.
As executive director of the Lumen Christi Academies, Pierre-Antoine will focus on development, operational coordination, ensure an adequate level of resources, and support principal and teacher development across the seven schools.

Bishop Barber said he welcomes Pierre Antoine’s contributions. “Rodney’s deep faith and commitment to Catholic education will help us create a sustainable, thriving network so all our children can receive the very best academic and faith formation.”
The seven schools in the Lumen Christi Academies are: Queen of All Saints, Concord; St. Anthony, Oakland; St. Catherine of Siena, Martinez; St. Cornelius, Richmond; St. Elizabeth, Oakland; St. Paul, San Pablo; and St. Peter Martyr, Pittsburg.
The Diocese of Oakland serves two counties in the East Bay region, Alameda and Contra Costa, and includes approximately 400,000 Catholics in 84 parishes. It includes 39 elementary and nine high schools, with a total Catholic student population of approximately 16,000.
