Discernment Series Part 3 - What are You Good at?
Teaching has a tendency to display our strengths and weaknesses in all their glory, before our students and ourselves. Fr. Himes’ second reflection asks us to examine our talents. Click the image below to view the clip. This section of the video runs from 11:19 to 18:52.
Reflection: What are some of the skills and abilities that I possess that led me to teaching with ACE? What gifts have I developed during my ACE experience? What am I good at?
What gifts and skills would my community say I possess? My principal? My mentor teacher? Who are some other people in my life who know my passions and my talents?
What skills do I hope to develop in the future? What kind of tasks might promote the growth of those skills, dispositions, and talents?
Fear not, for I have redeemed you;
I have called you by name, you are mine.
When you pass through the waters I will be with you;
and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you;
When you walk through fire you shall not be burned,
and the flame shall not consume you.
For I am the Lord your God,
the Holy One of Israel, your Savior…
You are precious in my eyes and glorious…
Fear not, for I am with you.
Isaiah 43:1-5
