“Umm...what are we celebrating, Miss Ogden?”

The voice came through Kathy Ogden’s computer speakers, barely audible over the uplifting beats of “Celebration” by Kool & The Gang.

“We just finished our first full day of virtual learning!” was Kathy’s energetic answer.

After the storming of the U.S. Capitol left students and teachers wondering how to process and talk about what they witnessed, Meghan McDermott, a faculty member for ACE Teaching Fellows, shared these thoughts and resources.

“We have superintendents, school counselors, teachers. We call education ‘The Family Business,’ and I fought being a part of it for years,” says Kristy Martinez, a graduate of the Mary Ann Remick Leadership Program’s 17th cohort.

Kristy resolved her family’s vocation would not be hers. She was going to be a lawyer.

But God and Grandma had other plans.
