(Chamberlain, S.D.) –During the week of November 16, St. Joseph’s Indian School 4-6th grade students and Native Hope are participating in this year’s national Rock Your Mocs event. This annual event creates a positive cultural experience that promotes unity and celebration of tribal individuality by wearing moccasins.

Erich Hoffer Remick Leadership Program

Erich Hoffer’s initial plans didn’t include a commitment to Catholic school leadership, let alone the University of Notre Dame’s Mary Ann Remick Leadership Program.

Not even close. 

For one thing, he wasn’t Catholic. He also had aspirations to major in political science and head straight to law school before beginning a long and successful career. 

So how is it that he is now in his 18th year in education and nearing the middle of his second year as the principal of Christ the King Roman Catholic School in the Archdiocese of Denver?

Recognizing the impact of the University of Notre Dame’s efforts to improve childhood literacy in Haiti, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) has awarded an $8 million grant to the University to expand its early-grade literacy and social-emotional learning programs and improve early childhood development.

St. Joseph Indian School Celebrates Red Ribbon Week

(Chamberlain, S.D.) – During the week of October 26, St. Joseph's Indian School students kicked off Red Ribbon Week on Monday with five differently themed dress-up days and an interactive scavenger hunt to teach students about drug and alcohol awareness. St. Joseph’s Indian School—a member of the American Indian Catholic Schools Network—has actively participated in Red Ribbon Week for nearly 20 years and continues to develop updated drug and alcohol curriculums that relate to each age group.

St. Joseph Indian School Visiting Artist

(Chamberlain, S.D.) – From October 19 to 23, St. Joseph’s Indian School welcomed visiting artist Donna Gunn to campus as part of the South Dakota Arts Council Artist in Residency Program. Gunn is a talented pianist, singer and music educator from Lincoln, Neb.
