“No. No. No. I don't want to teach middle school. I don't want to teach all boys,” said Terese Hagerty, remembering her first reaction to the idea of teaching at Chicago Jesuit Academy, a tuition-free school serving young men in grades 3-8. “And here we are 10 years later. I love it.”

St. Joseph Indian School Wrap Around Services

(Chamberlain, S.D.) –St. Joseph’s Indian School’s new and returning staff are currently in “busy bee” mode as the start of a new school year is just around the corner. Since July 19, new staff has been engaged in 80 hours of staff training. By the end of the year, their combined in-person instruction will total more than 1,100 hours. All staff comes together on August 2 for an entire week of preparation. Training ensures qualified staff and consistent delivery of wraparound services to the students who attend the school.

Dr. Patrick Manning emphasizes the importance of capturing the imagination as a way to draw individuals in as learners.

“We live more from our hearts and our imaginations than we do from our minds, so if we want to draw people into something, we can’t just give them information,” he said. “Once someone is invested, they’re going to want to learn more, but the way to start teaching is by giving people a glimpse.”

ACE 2021 Commencement

Derrell Bradford, the president of 50CAN, a national non-profit that advocates for high-quality education for all children regardless of their address, served as the keynote speaker at the 2021 Commencement Ceremony of the University of Notre Dame’s Alliance for Catholic Education (ACE) on Saturday (July 10).
