Findlay, OHWhat do you hope to do/accomplish as an ACE Teacher?
I hope to be the best and most effective teacher I can be to my future students, their families, and the other staff involved in the school. I hope to connect with each student and their respective families to ensure that each child is learning and succeeding to the best of their ability. Everyone's path is different, I just wish to give guidance and support where necessary while also helping to further each students academic abilities and cultivate their love of learning.
What experiences at your undergraduate institution helped shape your decision to pursue teaching as a possible vocation?
When I was little and people asked me, "What do you want to be when you grow up?" my answer was always, "A teacher." And that answer never changed. Coming to Notre Dame I actively sought out opportunities that would help me achieve that dream. I discovered and enrolled in the ESS minor, I attended an ACE info session in my dorm, I got coffee with and talked to ACE staff members, began volunteering at a bilingual elementary school, and started tutoring on campus. All of these ND experiences reassured me in the fact that ACE is the next step for me.
How do you hope to grow in your experience as an ACE Ambassador/Intern?
I hope to expand my communication and intrapersonal skills by connecting with other ND students and potentially recruiting them for ACE. I hope to share my passion of ACE with others and build up the community even more. I can't wait to be fully immersed in this new community and bring others in with me.
