ACE in the City:
We are privileged to be part of the vibrant Catholic school community in Atlanta. Since 1998, thirty-two ACE teachers have served in schools in the archdiocese and over two dozen graduates have moved to the city to continue serving Catholic schools as teachers and leaders. Five teachers serving grades 3-12 currently work in four partnering schools: Our Lady of Mercy Catholic High School, St. John the Evangelist Parish School, St. John Neumann Regional Catholic School, and St. Peter Claver Regional Catholic School.
The Archdiocese of Atlanta has deepened its relationship with the University of Notre Dame in recent years turning to ACE for leadership and expertise in developing local Catholic school pastors, administrators and teachers. A handful of these school leaders have taken advantage of ACE’s two teaching certificate programs in English as a New Language and Teaching Exceptional Children. In addition, several pastors have participated in the unique leadership formation experience known as the School Pastor’s Institute.

The University of Notre Dame Sorin Award for Service to Catholic Schools
From 2001-2004, Archbishop Wilton Daniel Gregory served as the President of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, the first African American to hold the position. During his tenure, the Conference issued the "Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People" to address child abuse within the Church and to set forth guidelines for reconciliation, healing, accountability, and prevention of future acts of abuse. Archbishop Gregory is a staunch and powerful advocate for children within the Church, ensuring that the Church is a place of safety, support, education and encouragement.
